Meetings
The Major Cities Chiefs meet three times a year. Chiefs may
bring staff members to attend them. Law enforcement staff
members are allowed in all meeting segments with the exception
of the Executive Session. Official representatives of governmental
agencies are normally invited to attend all sessions with
the exception of the Executive Session. The President routinely
invites vendor and other non-sworn guests to attend the morning
presentation sessions, but excuses them from the afternoon
"Round Table" discussion which is limited to active
local, state, and federal law enforcement. The President has
the authority to determine meeting attendance policies at
all times. New member Chiefs who wish to register for a conference
meeting or conference hotel may do so on the password protected
(Member Log-in) side of the web site.
Passwords may be obtained from the Executive Director of the
Association, Tom Frazier.
Winter Meeting
The winter meeting is held for (2) two days each February,
in the city of one of the MCC members. The host department
Chief assumes responsibility for determining the dates of
the meeting. The Host Chief coordinates meeting sites, registration,
hotel accommodations, and transportation.
Summer Meeting
The Major Cities Chiefs meet two days each summer. The summer
meeting is held in Sun Valley, Idaho, the second week in June.
It is concurrent with the annual retraining program of the
National Executive Institute Associates. The entire week is
devoted to the two programs.
Most Major Cities Chiefs are graduates of the
FBI National Executive Institute and also attend the three-day
executive training program.
Fall Meeting
Each fall, normally in the month of October, the MCC meet
two days immediately prior to the annual conference of the
International Association of Chiefs of Police. Most, if not
all, members of the Major Cities Chiefs are also members of
the IACP, and attend the annual conference.
Two awards are presented annually at the Sun
Valley meeting. Click on the links below for additional information:
